St Martins Lodge Freemasons Roll Up Their Sleeves for Liskeard Community Home
A team of community-minded Freemasons from St Martins Lodge No. 510 recently traded their regalia for paintbrushes to support a vital local care facility. Following a conversation with Sam Ridsdell of the Trelawney Light Blues, the volunteers eagerly stepped up to refresh the external paintwork at Layland Short Breaks Home in Liskeard.
Hot Weather, High Spirits
The summer weather brought soaring temperatures reaching around 30 degrees. Despite a brief discussion about potentially postponing due to the intense heat, the undaunted team decided the show must go on. Bro Jon Eastaugh was designated as the project manager, keeping the crew organised, motivated, and moving in the right direction.
Fueled by Community Spirit
The collaborative effort quickly yielded visible results. While St Martins Lodge covered the entire cost of the painting materials, the hard work was fueled purely by local hospitality. The wonderful staff at Layland kept the volunteers well-supplied with hot and cold refreshments, alongside plenty of smiles, cakes, and biscuits. A couple of hours later, the team successfully completed the targeted areas. While there is always more to be done, the initiative stands as a fantastic example of Freemasons working visibly in the community to make a positive local impact.
