The Role

The Learning and Development Officer is responsible for the development, promotion, delivery, management and support of all Learning and Development initiatives and events, as part of an overarching strategic plan within our Province which has as its priorities:

  • Satisfying members’ diverse expectations of Freemasonry as an important, enjoyable and satisfying part of their personal and family life and in which they are respected and valued.
  • Encouraging Lodges and Chapters to provide attractive, good quality Masonic experiences and to plan for their future growth and development (e.g. using the Members’ Pathway).
  • Increasing the visibility and reputation of Freemasonry as a recognised and respected part of our local communities.
  • Providing encouragement, support and resources to members, Lodges and other Masonic groups, to enable them to contribute to the above priorities.

Freemasons have always been encouraged to make a daily advancement in their understanding of Freemasonry. UGLE has developed ‘Solomon’, an online repository of credible Masonic learning materials, to support lodges, chapters and brethren in the provision of their own Masonic learning.

To get started with ‘Solomon’, please go to Solomon.ugle.org.uk
Please remember that the Provincial Grand Learning and Development Officer is available to help and support lodges, chapters and individuals in their daily advancement of Masonic Knowledge.
